More Information
Band
The Band is over 90 years old and one of the original Units when Ben Ali Shrine formed. The Band is made up of about three dozen talented musicians who perform concerts at Shriner's Hospital for children in Sacrament and for ceremonials, stated meetings and other activities to support Ben Ali Shrine. The Band is an authorized and chartered Unit of Ben Ali Shrine, interested musicians may request membership of band director.
Cibara Motor Corps
Cibara Motor Corp consists of diverse backgrounds who exemplify Masonic values. We are Shriner's who like to ride 30 miles an hour 3 inches off the ground. We participate in multiple parades from April through December. We thrill and entertain the crowds with precision teamwork on the ground. We have kart practices several times throughout the season, as well as work days to perform maintenance and repairs (these are weekend days). We also participate in community events on behalf of the Shrine such as Kings games and the Shrine Bowl. Karts are provided by and property of Cibara.
Keystone Cops & Alley Clowns
This Unit is a combination of Shrine Brothers formed to entertain both children and adults with comedic antics. We dress either in Clown costumes with funny wigs and red noses and as Keystone Cops of the roaring 20's. The typical Keystone police attire is similar to those like the English “Bobbies” and portrayed in the old movies of the 1920's and 30's. The Clowns entertain with funny skits, run around funny cars and tie balloons. While the Keystone Cops were very slap-stick like, as well. They relied on Speed and numbers to achieve their comedy, instead of sophisticated wit. We have several antique autos and even a 1920 Paddy Wagon. Our job is to “Bring More Laughter Than Tears” and “Play so that Children May”. All of this for the Shriner Hospital for Children. We do several parades a year and a few community gigs. A member can choose which they would rather be, or at certain times be either one the situation calls for.
Legion of Honor
We are a Unit made up of military veterans that served Honorably. A major goal is to continue the love of country that we all served in defense of. The Ben Ali Shrine Legion of Honor membership requirements are that a Noble have an Honorable Discharge from any of the branches of the U. S. military services. The unit has winter and summer dress uniforms which are very distinctive, and participates in parades and formal Shrine events as well as other duties as requested by other Units and Clubs as well as the Potentate. It should go without saying that another objective of the Legion is to support the Shrine network of Hospitals for Children.
Oriental Band
The Ben Ali Oriental Band participates in the Shrine functions including the Ceremonials and Parades as well as an annual Jamboree with other Oriental Bands. We perform on Musettes (a reed instrument), Tambourines, Glockenspiel and a variety of Percussive Instruments. We provide free lessons and furnish most of your band dress and summer uniforms. Our Dinner Uniform consisting of the Red Jackets, White Shirt and Black Pants are on your own. (but we do issue great looking musical note ties).
Marching Patrol
We are a marching unit that attends all command parades and we present the colors at all stated meeting, the unit also provides the Potentate his honor guard when requested. The Patrol provides your uniform and the unit fez, so there is no out of pocket expense except your installation expense.
Past Masters
We are Past Masters of the Masonic Lodge and we preform the degree work for the lodges when requested by them.
Peace Officers
We are made up of both retired and active law enforcement personnel that have common interests to protect and serve; we meet on a regular basis to better serve the Shrine Hospital and the communities in Northern California. We welcome all Shriner's with a background in the area of Law enforcement, which would include Prison personnel, probation departments, security personnel, Police and Sheriff Officers.
Wrecking Crew
Formed in 1928. The Wrecking Crew 45 members have the important responsibility in providing for the portion of the initiation ceremony commonly known as the “Second Section.” They construct, install, and operate the many clever devices that assist worthy candidates in the traditional journey across the “hot sands.” The ingenuity, resourcefulness and skill of the Wrecking Crew makes them a valuable adjunct of the Shrine Center activities. The Wrecking Crew Supports the Sacramento Northern California Shrine Hospital, attends all Shrine Center Command events and stages social functions throughout the year for its members and guest.
